Some sayings and quotes expressed throughout the event:
“For the soul time does not exist“. Doctor José Luis Cabouli.
“I think, therefore I am“. René Descartes (1596-1650).
“It is by divine grace that we do not remember our past lives”. Mohandas Gandhi (1869-1948).
«Chocolate con la noticia y dulce de leche con la primicia» (“Chocolate with the news and syrup of milk with the first”).
Temptations to Sin.
(Mr. 9.42-48; Lc. 17.1-2).
42 “If any of you cause one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for you if a great millstone were hung around your neck and you were thrown into the sea. 43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than to have two feet and to be thrown into hell. 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and to be thrown into hell, 48 where their worm never dies and the fire is never quenched”.
Serenity Prayer.
“Lord, grant me the serenity to accept all that I cannot change, / courage to change what I am capable of changing / and wisdom to understand the difference.“
Although the dialogue claims to be by Saint Francis, it is attributed to the theologian Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971).
Doctor Cabouli quotes the following saying, which he attributes to Buddha:
“If you want to know your past, look at your present. If you want to know your future, look at your present actions.“
But the saying that is known is:
“If you want to know the past, look at the present, which is its result. If you want to know the future, look at the present, which is its cause.” Siddhartha Gautama Buddha (approximately 566-486 BC).
Jesus of Galilee…
Jesús de Galilea
Para mí no eres Dios,
Eres sólo una idea
De la que marcho en pos (…).
(…) No le niegues al mundo
La gloria de tu ser,
Que en su vientre fecundo
Te engendró una mujer (…).
[Jesus of Galilee
For me you are not God,
You are only an idea
That I pursue (…).
(…) Do not deny the world
The glory of your being,
That in her fertile womb
A woman conceived you (…)].
Pedro Bonifacio Palacios, Almafuerte (1854-1917).
